TMG (TriMethylGlycine)
TMG, TriMethylGlycine, aka betaine base, a natural metabolic product of choline, is a methyl donor which promotes healthy homocysteine and SAMe levels, joint function and mood. In the liver, TMG helps metabolize fat and increases detoxifying liver enzymes and antioxidant glutathione levels.** After giving up a methyl group, it becomes the nutrient *533 DMG popular with athletes and antiaging enthusiasts. In farm animals, TMG is used to improve the meat to fat ratio. Typical daily dose is 500-1500mg with other anti-homocysteine nutrients: B6, B12, folic acid, & choline. Certain aggressive protocols for mood and liver protection use up to 6 grams a day safely. Last edited by CJ220 : 05-03-2008 at 10:19 PM. Reason: oops |
