About 9 months ago I was attempting to pick up a ceral box on the ground with my mouth, did the splits, and pulled something in the back of my leg. I felt and heard something tear. At first I thought it was my hamstring, but I can touch my toes without pain. The injury seems to be located somewhere near where the hamstrings attach underneath the glutes.
Touching my toes doesn't hurt, curling my legs (in a strict movement) doesn't hurt. Narrow-stance squats or deads don't hurt. If I attempt any moderately-wide stance movement, especially sumo deads, I can get a couple inches of movement before the pain stops me. I don't notice it during any normal daily activities--like I said, pretty much just any wide-stance athletic movement. I kind of thought this would go away, but it isn't. Does anybody have an idea of what this is and/or how to treat it? |

^^^Watch out bro or you may get the infamous Maraxus slam quote! LOL As Whitey said it sounds to me like you pulled your inner groin. I have done this before and it only affected me when I squated wide. But it really hurt when pulling deads. How did you end up in the splits while getting cereal? Water on the tile floor or something? |

hmm...groin, hadn't thought of that.
sigh...i knew i was gonna have to explain this. ok, it was a social game. A group of people stand in a circle and you put an empty cereal box on the ground. You gotta pick it up with your mouth without touching the ground with your hands. Each round you tear a little more off so the box gets shorter and shorter and it's harder and harder to get your mouth down there. I'd had a few drinks so I didn't pay as much attention to my body's warning signs as I should have. I know I'm a raving idiot, no need to remind me. Any ideas on how to speed up the healing process? |
