I have seen all manner of rumor on this thing, ranging from 07 to 09...to not actually a done deal at all.

I certainly hope to see it happen. I will likely jump on one with the big hp. But forget about it being in the mid20s..not going to happen. The full package on the bird in 02 put it in the 30s, so I can't imagine they would redesing it with more hp and drop the price.

Just saw this over at LMO's site....

The investment will transform the plant into a "state of the art flexible manufacturing facility." Oshawa has twin plants, one of which was scheduled to close in 2008 after GM announced major cost-cutting measures in late 2005. However, some media reports today are suggesting both plants will stay open, while others are indicating jobs will only be saved at one of the plants. Reports this weekend also indicated the Oshawa plant(s) would be used to build other new Zeta-platform cars, with output as high as 500,000 units per year. GM made no mention of these details in its official announcement. Stay Tuned.

Fuckin right I do.

And yes, the car has been OK'd, but itll prolly be for the 2009 model year, so mid 2008 itll go on sale, meaning I'll buy one.

The fully-loaded Trans Am's went for just over 30K yes, but that was for the convertable, anniversary option, with all SLP options.

You could still get a base model Trans Am for about 25K, and thats what im talkin about, if they can make the BASE V8 25K range, itll sell good.

If they start it at 31K,, and make it 3800lbs like the GTO, it obviously wont sell.

Sorry Hades, but having owned some of them...and currently working on getting this 2002 WS6 straightened out....I can say that the TAs (non-convert or anniversary) cost 30+.

A formula was a cheaper way to get the LS1. If you wanted one for running, you bought the Z28 anyway. The formula was a better choice for a race car than the TA. Let's face it..if you wanted a TA...you got it BECAUSE of the nicer stuff in it and the subsequent price.

I simply don't get it. WTF do people expect? 400 fucking HP!!!!! That shit isn't free. Okay...who here wants a car without leather? How about a premium radio? Maybe electric seats and mirrors? I don't understand why people bitch about this sort of thing driving up the price of a vehicle. I am blown away by the notion that you can get a GTO for 30k. It needs to go on a diet for sure, but geez!

Vette performance at Impala price, with Saturn ammenities. I guess that's the only way to make folks happy. It's obvious there were some problems in moving the f-body platform, but maybe I am just too dense to get it the price side of it.

its not, all the picture cars are fakes, no motors and so on.. they havnt gotten approval, nor the facilities to make another rear wheel drive car... i think it will do great if it comes about, chevy needs all the help it can get in the next few years.. everyone knows the price will be around or above the GTO, so no worries about it being mustang comaparable
