Early 30's.
I grew up reading Muscle and Fitness. Tom Platz and Lee Haney were my heros as a kid. I experimented with weights but never really had the resources to be serious with it as a kid until high school. At around 24 I got really serious. I tried a dbol only cycle. I had no idea what I was doing and the internet wasn't invented yet. I listened to the advice of a 6'3 300+ lb skinhead and he handed me a bottle of pink dbols. I took them and was amazed. Not too long after this I was in a bad car accident and couldn't work out for 2 months. I lost all of my size and gave up for awhile. After starting a new career as a salesman in my late 20's my body went through some changes for the worse. I probably upped McDonald's stock on my own. I ate there 3 times a day. I had dangerously high blood pressure and was told diabeties was right around the corner. Then someone gave me a book that changed my life. Body For Life by Bill Phillips. I entered the contest, and even though I never followed through with the contest I stuck to the program. I was in better shape than I was when I played safety in high school football. After making some successfull changes to my body for the next couple of years I started becoming a student of the science. After buying my first cycle since the creation of the internet I logged on to a bodybuilding board to find out if it was real. That was in late 2002. I learned and asked questions for the next year. I picked up enough knowledge to help some others. Though I had some rocky times on the boards I have to say it has been a genuinely great experience. I hope all of the stuff I have learned can help others to a better healthier body. |
