To those who have always squatted but are just learning to "squat big," I would add the following comment: take a look at these pictures and note the elbow placement of all these big squatters. Many, many trainers, even those with lots of experience, make what I believe is the mistake of believing that "chest out" implies "elbows back" for whatever reason. I think it comes from the old profile sihouette of a squatter that showed elbows clearly breaking the plane of the back as if trying to touch the elbows together.

Though I'm sure there's the handful of guys who have a very specific and very good reason for squatting like this, it's one of those things that becomes more and more critical as you move up in weight and, in my opinion, one of the few remaining bad habits an experienced lifter is still likely to carry. With all of the other mental checks and placements to sort through, this elbow issue falls largely and regretably by the wayside...
