The Top 10 Dead-lifting Tips
1. Always dead-lift in a clear area of at least 4 by 8 feet. 2. Don't let the hips kick up before the shoulders start to move; they should come up together. 3. Keep the shoulders in front of the barbell throughout the lift. 4. Keep the arms completely straight throughout the lift. 5. Keep the pull smooth and consistent. 6. Lower the bar with a flat back. 7. Don't bounce the bar off the ground at the end of the lift. 8. Always dead-lift with collars on the bar to ensure a balanced bar. 9. Develop the strong trunk or core muscles instead of using a lifting belt for sub-maximal lifts. 10. Make sure that you follow strict form when lifting to failure, because impaired mechanics may increase the risk for injury. |
